Breaking Down the Arizona Cardinals Win Total
2020 NFL Season
Arizona Cardinals - 7.5 Wins - Super Bowl Odds 50/1
The Arizona Cardinals, led by first-year youngster quarterback, Kyler Murray, showed signs of promise during the 2019 NFL season. Although the Cardinals were five games under .500 in 2019, they were able to win some key games and develop their highly touted prospects. It should be a better year for Arizona in 2020, but in a very tight NFC West, anything can happen. Get NFL Predictions and Picks for Every NFL game at Pick Dawgz.
Offense: Of course, the biggest news that deals with the Cardinals offense has to be the trade that was made between them and the Houston Texans. The Cardinals sent RB David Johnson and draft picks to Texas for one of, if not, the best wide receiver in the entire league, De'Andre Hopkins. Hopkins is exactly what the Cardinals need on offense, as many times the lack of consistent WR weapons for Arizona was seen clearly through Murray's play. Now, Kyler Murray will have a reliable work-horse WR that can catch 10 receptions a game easily. Other positive news for the Cardinals offense was the fact that they were able to resign RB Kenyan Drake to a one-year tender deal. Drake showed that he just needed a better system than Miami when he was successful in Arizona after his trade from the Dolphins. Drake will be a key asset to this Cardinals offense, an offense that needs to be firing on all cylinders to be successful in the NFC.
Defense: The defensive side of the ball was the major weak spot for Arizona in 2019, as the Cardinals were near the bottom of the league in total points against per game. Their big addition on defense has to be DT Jordan Phillips, who signed via Free Agency. Phillips played all 16 games for the Bills last season, and he had a career year with 9.5 sacks. The defense still looks a tad on the weaker side in Arizona, who will need to certainly address some needs in the secondary in the draft and beyond.
Overview: This Cardinals team should be an exciting one to watch, with flashy players like Hopkins and Murray leading the way. Their win total projection is rather high for me, though, as I cannot see this team at .500 or better just yet. The NFC West is such a tough division, that I think it is too much for them to get to 8 wins in 2020. I will take the under 7.5 wins.
