The Cleveland Browns and New York Jets face off on Sunday in a Week 16 NFL showdown at MetLife Stadium.
The New York Jets are coming off their first win of the season last Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, but because of the win, now they have put in jeopardy their chances at Trevor Lawrence. The Jets have had a terrible season but against the Rams they played well to start the game, and then held on late to come away with a three-point victory. Quarterback Sam Darnold did throw for 207 yards and a touchdown. Most importantly, Darnold didn’t throw any interceptions, and in this game he is going to need to continue to not turn it over. On the season the Jets are averaging 14.7 points while giving up 29.5 points per game. In this game the Jets need their defense to be good, so the offense doesn't have to be involved in a shootout.
On the other side of this matchup is the Cleveland Browns who currently sit with a 10-4 record and they have won five of the last six games. In the last game on Sunday Night Football, the Browns defense was strong giving up only six points and that led to the Browns winning comfortably over the Giants. This is a Browns team that overall has struggled with their defense giving up 26.7 points per game. The offense although has been good averaging 26.3 points per game. Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is having a big year on the season he has thrown for 3,082 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The Browns run game is also strong, led by Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb and as a team they are averaging 152.6 yards per game on the ground.
The Browns are 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 road games. The under is 7-3 in the Jets last 10 games overall. The favorite is 10-1 against the spread in the last 11 meetings played between the two teams. The under is 7-3 in the last ten meetings played between the Browns and Jets.
The Jets offense is going to go back to their old ways and that is going to continue in this game. Look for the Jets lack of scoring to keep this game low scoring. Back the under to cash with ease.
