The Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs face off on Sunday in a Week 16 NFL showdown at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Atlanta Falcons have had a terrible season and they can’t have any confidence left after how the last game ended against the Buccaneers. At halftime, the Falcons were up 17-0, but in the second half the defense struggled including giving up 21 points in the third quarter, and that led to the loss. On the season Atlanta is averaging 25.4 points per game while their defense is giving up 25.2 points per game. Matt Ryan is having another big years statswise, but he hasn’t been leading the team to enough wins. On the season, Ryan has thrown for 4016 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Away from home this season Atlanta sits with a 2-4 record. One big question for this team heading into this game is if Julio Jones will be able to go as he deals with a hamstring injury.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kansas City Chiefs who sure look like they are the best team in the NFL. Kansas City comes into this game with a 13-1 record overall and their only loss came a few months back against the Las Vegas Raiders. This is a Chiefs offense that is elite and on the season he is averaging 31.1 points per game while the defense is giving up 22.1 points per game. At times the Chiefs defense has looked like it needs to improve, and in this game, they are going to need to step up on that side of the ball going forward, especially when the playoffs roll around. Patrick Mahomes is having an MVP type season and coming into this one he has thrown for 4,462 yards, 36 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
Atlanta is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games played in Week 16. The under is 6-2 in Atlanta’s last eight games on grass. Kansas City is 9-3-1 against the spread in their last 13 home games. Kansas City is 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine games played in December.
I don’t think the Falcons will be getting out to the fast start like they did in the last game, and in this one, the Chiefs are going to run up the score. The Falcons are going to struggle to keep this game close and the Chiefs will come away with a win and a cover of the spread.
Shane’s Pick Kansas City -10
