The New England Patriots face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, November 1st at Bills Stadium for week eight of NFL football action.
The New England Patriots are coming off a 33-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in week seven of the NFL season. The Patriots are 2-4, a record they never had when Tom Brady was quarterback. The Patriots have lost three straight, scoring 12 or fewer points in each of those games. The Patriots have not done much right during this stretch, and now they are in third place in the AFC East -- a division they usually dominate. The Patriots score only 19.2 points per game, as the new-look offense has really struggled this season. Cam Newton has only two touchdowns and seven interceptions this season, as he has had a rough go at a comeback season. The Patriots allow 23.8 points per game to the opposition, as the defense has done a decent job of keeping the Pats in games. The fact of the matter is, these Patriots are nowhere near as talented as Patriot teams of the past, and it is showing on the scoreboard each week.
The Buffalo Bills struggled a bit against the lowly New York Jets in week seven. The Bills were able to escape MetLife with an 18-10 win, but the Bills were not able to find the end-zone once. Tyler Bass cashed in on 6/8 field goal attempts in the win, as he could be in line for AFC Special Teams Player of the week. The Bills are now 5-2 and lead the AFC East division by 1.5 games over the Miami Dolphins. The Bills score 24.9 points per game and earn 388.4 total yards per contest. The Bills allow 25.4 points per game to the opposition, as even with a 5-2 record, the team has a -4 point differential this season.
The Bills open as small favorites at home, and I see Buffalo taking care of business against a defeated Patriots team. I expect the Bills pulling away from this one early on, and I will lay the three points with Buffalo here.
