The Baltimore Ravens face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 18th at Lincoln Financial Stadium for week six of NFL football action.
The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Cincinnati Bengals by the final score of 27-3 in week five. The Ravens made Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense's lives very difficult in that game, holding the team to only 205 total yards and three points. The Ravens forced three turnovers: two fumbles and one interception in the 24-point victory at home. The Ravens are now 4-1 on the year and are a 0.5 game behind the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers for first place in the AFC North, a division that is shaping up to be the toughest in the league. The Ravens score an average of 29.8 points per game so far this season. The Ravens only allow 15.2 points per game to the opposition, as their defense has become one of the best and most tenacious in the entire league.
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a 38-29 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in week five of the season. The Eagles have had to deal with plenty of injuries this season, as have many other teams in the league as well. The Eagles are 1-3-1 and are now a 0.5 game behind the Cowboys for first place in the weak NFC East standings. In the game against the Steelers, the Eagles were given many chances to mount a comeback and perhaps even take the lead in the late going. Unfortunately for them, things did not go in their favor, as Chase Claypool and Ben Roethlisberger torched the Eagles weak secondary for three touchdowns. The Eagles score 22.6 points per game this season, as the offense has struggled at times. The Eagles allow 29.0 points per game to the opposition, and a lot of that has to do with such a porous Philly secondary.
The Ravens are 7.5-point favorites in this game on the road, and the total is set at 47.5. I like the Ravens to win this game, but I do not think I can lay that many points on the road. I will take the over in this one, as I expect the Ravens to do a lot of damage in the passing game here, scoring at least 30 points. I also expect the Eagles to find some fight in them as well, making this an offensive shootout.
