The New Orleans Saints face the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, September 21st at Allegiant Stadium for week two NFL action.
The New Orleans Saints took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the final score of 34-23. Drew Brees and the Saints rained on the parade of Tom Brady's Bucs debut in that game, as New Orleans is now 1-0 on the year. The Saints made Brady's life difficult in that game, forcing him to throw two uncharacteristic interceptions in the game. The Saints and Bucs played a more defensive-minded game in week one, despite the final score containing 57 total points. Brees and the Saints will look to find consistent offense on Monday Night Football against a Raiders team that conceded 30 points to the Carolina Panthers in week one. The way the Saints defense played against Tampa Bay leads me to believe that New Orleans could be real contenders in the NFC, as they are strong on both sides of the ball.
The Las Vegas Raiders will play their first game in their new stadium on Monday Night Football against the Saints. The Raiders made the move to Las Vegas in the offseason, and the team has really looked forward to the future in Allegiant Stadium. The Raiders took down the Carolina Panthers on the road by the final score of 34-30 in week one. That game was a back and forth battle between two teams that have their fair share of offensive weapons. Josh Jacobs and Christian McCaffery both had stellar days for their respective teams. Jacobs had 25 carries for 93 yards and a whopping three rushing touchdowns in his season debut. The Raiders will most likely use Jacobs like this each week, but against a very tough New Orleans rush defense, it may be a difficult task in week two.
I am going to take the Saints to win this game by at least a touchdown, as they are the stronger team on both fronts. I expect Brees to have his way for a majority of this one, and I will look for him to give more love to his #1 target in Michael Thomas. I see the Saints stopping Josh Jacobs for most of this game as well, forcing Derek Carr to throw the ball a ton.
