The Seattle Seahawks face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, September 13th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for week one NFL action.
The battle of the birds will take place in Atlanta for a 1:00 pm EST start time. The Seahawks and Falcons met last season in Atlanta as well, and the Seahawks were victorious in that game by the final score of 27-20.
The Seahawks are coming off a decent season in which Seattle made it to the NFC Divisional Round. The Seahawks would lose to the Packers in that Divisional Round by the final score of 28-23. Seattle finished the season 11-5, and the team is looking to take the next step here in 2020. Russell Wilson is ready to lead his team, and the offense looks to be just as dangerous as it was in 2019. Chris Carson is slated as the starting running back, and guys like Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf are very strong options in the passing game for Wilson. Seattle's defense will be the biggest question mark heading into 2020, as although guys like Bobby Wagner, Shaquill Griffin, and K.J. Wright return, Seattle does have a few holes on the defensive side.
The Atlanta Falcons ended the year on a real heater in 2019. Atlanta won four straight games to end the season with a 7-9 record. The beginning of the season was rocky for the Falcons, as Matt Ryan and others battled injuries. The Falcons are very confident heading into the 2020 season, and that can be shown in this game's betting line, as it is very close. Todd Gurley is the biggest name to join the Falcons this season, and he will enter the year as the team's running back. If Gurley can stay on the field, he is one of the league's most potent backs, so it will be interesting to see how he does this season.
Week one is always the toughest week to bet, especially without any preseason. I am going to take the Atlanta Falcons at home and grab the points, as I think they really improved in the offseason, and a lot of their guys are returning from injury. This should be an excellent game that could go either way, so I would rather take the points and the home team.
