The Washington Redskins and the Carolina Panthers meet in NFL action from Bank of America Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Washington Redskins will look to build on a 19-16 win over Detroit that snapped a 4-game losing streak. Dwayne Haskins threw for 156 yards and an interception on 13 of 29 passing while Derrius Guide led the Redskins with 32 rushing yards on 10 carries. Terry McLaurin had a team-high 5 catches for 72 yards while Kelvin Harmon added 3 grabs for 43 yards. Steven Sims Jr. also had a kick return TD for Washington while Fabian Moreau and Quinton Dunbar each had an interception with Moreau logging a pair of picks. Cole Holcomb led the Redskins with 13 total tackles while Landon Collins had 10 total tackles including a team-high 8 solo tackles. As a team, Washington is averaging 253.4 yards of total offense and 13.1 points per game while allowing 369 yards of total defense and 24.5 points per game against this season.
The Carolina Panthers will be out to snap a three game losing streak after a 34-31 loss on the road to New Orleans last time out. Kyle Allen threw for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns on 23 of 36 passing while Christian McCaffrey had 22 carries for 64 yards and a TD and Curtis Samuel had 40 rushing yards as well. DJ Moore led Carolina in receiving with 6 catches for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns while Christian McCaffrey had a team-high 9 grabs for 69 yards and a touchdown and Greg Olsen had 5 catches for 44 yards. Defensively, Eric Reid led the Panthers with 15 total tackles including a team-high 11 solo tackles while Tre Boston had an interception. As a team, Carolina is averaging 347 yards of total offense and 23.5 points per game while allowing 367.1 yards of total defense and 26.5 points per game against this season.
Washington is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Carolina is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a losing road record while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. The underdog is 11-2 ATS in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.
This is a hard game to try to figure out, as you have the Panthers at home laying double digits when they’ve looked brutal the last couple of weeks and then narrowly fall to New Orleans in their last outing. Meanwhile, Washington is simply just playing out the string and trying to see what they have going forward. With all of that said, I’m going to side with the over. This seems like a really low total, and it’s not like Carolina’s defense is suffocating, the Panthers give up their fair share of points too. I can see this game being in the area of 27-14 or 28-14 or 28-17, with the over hitting no problem.
