The Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints meet in a week 12 NFC South division matchup in NFL action from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday afternoon.
The Carolina Panthers come into this one looking to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 29-3 defeat at the hands of Atlanta last time out. QB Kyle Allen has thrown for Kyle Allen has thrown for 1,923 yards, 10 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on 61.6% passing while Christian McCaffrey leads the Panthers in rushing with 1,059 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. DJ Moore leads the Panthers with 62 catches for 779 yards while McCaffrey has 59 grabs for 517 yards and 3 touchdowns. Greg Olsen has 40 catches for 486 yards and Collin Samuel has 38 receptions for 467 yards and 4 scores. Defensively, Luke Kuechly leads Carolina with 90 total tackles while Mario Addison leads Carolina with 8 sacks and Donte Jackson has 3 interceptions. As a team, Carolina is averaging 346.6 yards of total offense and 22.8 points per game while allowing 362 yards of total defense and 25.7 points per game against this season.
The New Orleans Saints will look to build on a 34-17 road win over Tampa Bay in their last outing. Drew Brees has thrown for 1,296 yards, 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 75.4% passing while Alvin Kamara has 472 rushing yards and Latavius Murray has 398 rushing yards and 4 TDs this season. Michael Thomas leads New Orleans with 94 grabs for 1,141 yards and 5 touchdowns while Kamara and Ted Ginn Jr. each have 300+ receiving yards this season. Defensively, Demario Davis leads New Orleans with 69 total tackles including a team-high 53 solo tackles while Cameron Jordan has a team-high 9.5 sacks and Marcus Williams has 4 interceptions this season. As a team, New Orleans is averaging 364 yards of total offense and 23.8 points per game while allowing 318.3 yards of total defense and 19.9 points per game against this season.
Carolina is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against the NFC and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in November while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 division games. New Orleans is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 home games. The underdog is 9-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams while Carolina is 14-5 ATS in the last 19 meetings between these two teams in New Orleans.
The Panthers have had success in this matchup on the road, and they may need some help from the trends as Carolina is trying to close ground on New Orleans in the division race. However, the Panthers have scored 16 or less in three of their four games since their bye week, and I’m starting to think that the Panthers are just running out of gas. New Orleans looks every bit the part of the best team in the NFC South and I think the Saints flex some muscle here and win by a couple of scores, something in the ballpark of 31-17 or 34-20, so I’ll lay the points with New Orleans here.
