The Line: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +6 -- Over/Under: 50
The New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet in a week 11 NFC South division matchup in NFL action from Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The New Orleans Saints will look to rebound after having their six game winning streak snapped with a 26-9 loss to Atlanta last time out. Drew Brees has thrown for 1,068 yards, 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 74.3% passing while Alvin Kamara has 397 rushing yards and Latavius Murray has 371 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns. Michael Thomas is New Orleans’ top receiver with 86 catches for 1,027 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Defensively, Demario Davis leads New Orleans with 63 total tackles including a team-high 48 solo tackles while Camerson Jordan has a team-high 8 sacks and Marcus Williams has 3 interceptions this season. As a team, New Orleans is averaging 368 yards of total offense and 22.7 points per game while allowing 316.6 yards of total defense and 20.2 points per game against this season.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look to build on a 30-27 overtime win over Arizona last time out to snap a four game losing skid. Jameis Winston has thrown for 2,765 yards, 17 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while Ronald Jones II leads the Bucs in rushing with 410 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns and Peyton Barber has 320 rushing yards and 4 TDs as well. Mike Evans leads the Buccaneers’ receiving group with 924 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns while Chris Godwin hass a team-high 60 catches for 840 yards and 6 touchdowns. Defensively, Lavonte David leads Tampa Bay with 70 total tackles including 44 solo tackles while Shaq Barrett is tied for the league lead with 11.5 sacks this season. As a team, Tampa Bay is averaging 385.6 yards of total offense and 28.9 points per game while allowing 376.7 yards of total defense and 31 points per game against this season.
New Orleans is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 23-8 ATS in their last 11 road games while the under is 9-1 in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record. Tampa Bay is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games against the NFC. The favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
New Orleans really let me down against Atlanta, but it was a recipe for disaster for the Saints, coming off of a bye week against the team at the bottom of the division with just one win and nothing to lose. Tampa Bay is tempting with the points at home after taking down Arizona in their last outing, but I’m still not sold on the Bucs as they give up way too much on defense and Jameis Winston has shown time and time again that he has significant issues with decision making as seen by his 14 interceptions this year. I just have more faith in New Orleans getting back on track than I do New Orleans sustaining their recent success, so I’ll lay the points with New Orleans here.
