The Detroit Lions and New York Giants meet Sunday in NFL action at Ford Field.
The New York Giants could use a victory here to snap a three-game losing streak. The New York Giants have lost six of their last nine road games. Daniel Jones is completing 61.1 percent of his passes for 1,144 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions. Jones enters this game with 175 career pass attempts under his belt. Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard have combined for 646 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Darius Slayton has 14 receptions. The New York Giants ground game is averaging 105.6 yards per contest, and Saquon Barkley leads the way with 309 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, New York is allowing 26.7 points and 388.4 yards per game. Antoine Bethea leads the New York Giants with 55 tackles, Markus Golden has five sacks and Janoris Jenkins has three interceptions.
The Detroit Lions also need a victory here to snap a three-game losing streak. The Detroit Lions have lost their last two home games. Matthew Stafford is completing 62.4 percent of his passes for 1,751 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions. Stafford has two or more touchdown passes in six of his last 14 games. Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay have combined for 772 receiving yards and nine touchdowns while Danny Amendola has 20 receptions. The Detroit Lions ground game is averaging 103.2 yards per contest, and Kerryon Johnson leads the way with 308 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Detroit is allowing 26.7 points and 428.8 yards per game. Tracy Walker leads the Detroit Lions with 50 tackles, Devon Kennard has three sacks and Darius Slay has one interception.
The Giants are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games, 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games on fieldturf and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Lions are 18-7-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games in Week 8 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The road team is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meetings. The under is 9-4 in Lions last 13 games overall. The over is 5-0 in Giants last 5 road games.
The New York Giants have covered seven of their last nine games as a road underdog. The Detroit Lions have covered seven of their last 11 home games as a favorite. Four of the Giants five losses this season have been decided by double digits and their defense seems to have taken a step back these last couple of weeks. The Detroit Lions are having recent issues of their own, but those three losses came against quality playoff teams and they had their chances to win two of those games. These three-game losing streaks aren't the same and I expect the Lions to get back on track. I'll lay the touchdown with the Lions at home.
