The Indiana Pacers and the Dallas Mavericks collide at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night. Here’s a Indiana Pacers vs Dallas Mavericks Prediction. This article will include a Indiana Pacers vs Dallas Mavericks Pick.

Indiana Pacers Betting Preview

The Indiana Pacers have had to endure a tough start to their season as they are now hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling just short to the Timberwolves in a 114-110 road defeat on Sunday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 33 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists on 11 of 24 shooting, Aaron Nesmith added 18 points with eight rebounds while Tony Bradley and RayJ Dennis each scored 12 points.

As a team, the Pacers shot just 42 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line as they were right in the contest until they went scoreless for almost a five minute stretch early in the third quarter. This allowed the Timberwolves to take control. Ben Sheppard finished with just six points on two of nine shooting while Jarace Walker had just five points on two of eight shooting.

Dallas Mavericks Betting Preview

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have dropped three of their first four games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting beaten by the Thunder in a 101-94 home loss on Monday. Anthony Davis led the team with 26 points, 11 rebounds and three assists on 10 of 16 shooting, PJ Washington added 15 points with nine rebounds and three assists while Max Christie chipped in with 14 points.

As a team, the Mavericks shot just 37 percent from the field and 12 of 39 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and could manage only 42 points in the first half. Things only got worse in the third quarter where they got outscored by 39-27 to trail by as many as 22 points. Cooper Flagg had a night to forget as he shot just one of nine from the field to finish with just two points in 31 minutes of action.

Why the Dallas Mavericks will win

  • The Pacers have lost each of their last five road games against Western Conference opponents.
  • The Mavericks have won five of their last six games against Eastern Conference opponents following a loss.
  • The Pacers have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last eight games against Mavericks teams that held a losing record.
  • The Mavericks have covered the spread in each of their last three games against Central Division opponents.

Why the Indiana Pacers will win

  • The Pacers have won each of their last nine night games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Mavericks have lost four of their last five games as home favorites against Central Division opponents.
  • The Pacers have covered the spread in each of their last six games as underdogs following a road loss.
  • The Mavericks have failed to cover the spread in six of their last seven home games against teams that held a losing record.

Total Points Facts

  • Each of the Mavericks’ last nine Wednesday games as home favorites have gone UNDER the total points line.
  • Each of the Pacers’ last four night games at American Airlines Center have gone OVER the total points line.

Indiana Pacers vs Dallas Mavericks Prediction

The Pacers are still missing a host of players including TJ McConnell, Tyrese Haliburton, Obi Toppin, Johnny Furphy and Andrew Nembhard, while the Mavericks have ruled out Kyrie Irving, Dante Exum, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively. Be sure to check the lineups before tipoff given the injury cloud hanging over both teams.

You really couldn’t back either team with any confidence as the Mavericks have yet to build any momentum and are coming fresh off an ugly loss. The Pacers have lost a couple extra players to injury, which makes things even tougher for them. I get why the Mavericks are favorites at home, but Davis and Flagg have been disappointing so far, so I prefer a play on the Pacers to at least keep things close at the end.

Peter Tran's Pick: Indiana +7.5
