The Charlotte Hornets and the Washington Wizards collide at the Capital One Arena on Friday night.

Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview

The Charlotte Hornets have won three of their first five games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after having their two-game win streak snapped by the Pistons in a 97-89 road defeat on Wednesday. Brandon Miller led the team with 31 points and 12 rebounds on 12 of 26 shooting, while Dennis Schroder added 14 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Hornets shot just 44 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they got off to a solid start and jumped out in front by 12 points, but the Hornets were ice-cold coming out of the halftime break and scored just 38 points in the second half as they couldn’t find any offense outside of Miller and Schroder.

Washington Wizards Betting Preview

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have dropped three of their last four games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting beaten by the Cavaliers in a 121-111 home loss on Wednesday. AJ Dybantsa led the team with 19 points on eight of 12 shooting, Anthony Davis and Alex Sarr each scored 18 points while Bilal Coulibaly chipped in with 17 points on eight of nine shooting off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 53 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 42 points in the first quarter to lead by 13 points early, but they couldn’t capitalize on their strong start and scored just 42 points in the entire second half to allow the Cavaliers to run past them with time to spare.

Charlotte v Washington Free Prediction

The Hornets are still missing Grant Williams, Coby White and Kon Knueppel with Dennis Schroder listed as questionable, while the Wizards have ruled out Tristan Vukcevic and Justin Champagnie with Tre Johnson listed as questionable. The Hornets have been one of the surprise teams in the league so far and they were more than competitive in a narrow loss to the red-hot Pistons on Wednesday. In contrast, the Wizards have been stuck in second gear with just one win on the season so far, but they would have loved what they saw from AJ Dybantsa in their loss on Wednesday. If you were looking at recent form, you have to lean towards the Hornets, but the Wizards are showing signs of improvement and they are slowly getting healthier. It’s hard to split these two squads, but the Wizards need a win and I think they get the job done in this spot.

Peter Tran's Pick: Washington -1.5
