The Atlanta Hawks invade the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.
Atlanta Hawks Betting Preview
The Atlanta Hawks are starting to heat up again as they’ve won two of their last three games overall and they will be eager to build some momentum after sneaking past the depleted Pacers in a 108-104 road win on Monday. Nickeil Alexander-Walker drained nine 3-pointers to lead the team with 34 points on 12 of 25 shooting, Luguentz Dort and Corey Kispert each scored 14 points while Onyeka Okongwu tallied 13 points with 10 rebounds. As a team, the Hawks shot just 39 percent from the field but they made up for it with 23 of 51 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 37 points in the first quarter to open up a 15-point lead which proved to be just enough to hold off the Pacers who cut the lead to just two points with 1:23 left in the fourth quarter. CJ McCollum scored 13 points with nine rebounds and 12 assists but he shot only four of 17 from the field while Aaron Wiggins scored just seven points on three of 12 shooting off the bench.
Washington Wizards Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards look to have moved on from their slow start to the season as they are now aiming for a third straight victory after beating the Magic in a 103-94 road win on Monday. Anthony Davis led the team with 27 points, nine rebounds and four steals on 12 of 17 shooting, Kyshawn George added 22 points with five assists on nine of 15 shooting while AJ Dybantsa chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Wizards shot a healthy 53 percent from the field and nine of 24 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their defense as this game was closely contested until the third quarter where the Wizards restricted the Magic to a season-low nine points to take control of the contest. The Wizards still had plenty of work to do after their 11-point lead got cut to just three points in the fourth quarter, but they responded with another run to secure the win and improve to 4-3 on the season.
Atlanta v Washington Free Prediction
The Hawks are still missing Jock Landale and they are keeping an eye on Jalen Johnson who is questionable for this one, while the Wizards have ruled out Justin Champagnie and Tristan Vukcevic again with Anthony Gill and Alex Sarr both questionable. This is definitely a game where you should check the lineups before tipoff given the injury cloud. The Hawks open as slight favorites on the road, but it’s the Wizards who have been the team in better form recently. I expect the line to shift significantly if the Wizards get Gill or Sarr back in the lineup, so I will back the Wizards as the home underdog in a game they could easily win outright.
