The Line: San Antonio Spurs +2.5
The Charlotte Hornets and San Antonio Spurs meet Saturday in summer league NBA action at the Golden 1 Center. Here’s a San Antonio Spurs vs Charlotte Hornets Prediction. This article will include a San Antonio Spurs vs Charlotte Hornets Pick.
Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview
From a talent standpoint, the Charlotte Hornets could be the best team in the field, considering they have a handful of highly drafted players on their roster. Those players Brandon Miller, Tidjane Salaün, and Nick Smith Jr. Unfortunately, Miller won’t play in the summer league until Las Vegas, and I doubt he plays any serious minutes regardless. Salaün also won’t play in California due to a knee laceration. Outside of those guys, RaeQuan Battle is a player to watch given his scoring potential he showed at West Virginia, while Leaky Black is somebody who started 3 games for the Hornets last season. Zavier Simpson started 4 games for the OKC Thunder a couple of seasons ago, and Matt Morgan just made All-EuroCup First Team. There’s a lot of potential for the Hornets this summer and could lead to some exciting play.
San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview
The San Antonio Spurs will be giving their young players a lot of run in these summer league games, as Stephon Castle, Harrison Ingram and Sidy Cissoko are on the roster. However, Juan Nunez doesn’t appear on the roster at the time of this writing. Other notable names for the Spurs in the summer league include David Duke Jr., RaiQuan Gray and Jamaree Bouyea, a trio that’s played in a combined 67 games. Jameer Nelson Jr. is also on the Spurs roster, the son of the long time NBA point guard, who was an all star selection in the 2008-09 season. This is an important summer league for the Spurs, as they have to find guys who are ready to help Victor Wembanyama right away.
San Antonio Spurs vs Charlotte Hornets Prediction
You can make a case for either the Hornets or the Spurs, as these teams are stacked with young talent. However, I’m kind of surprised the Spurs are the underdog because the Hornets will be without Miller and Salaün. The Spurs have high-end rookies who are excited to play and showcase why they were highly regarded. I like what some of these Spurs players are saying, and we’re getting a free bucket with a roster that’s more at full strength. Give me the free points with the Spurs.
