The Brooklyn Nets have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 16 of their last 19 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a six-game losing streak after getting trampled by the Spurs in a 126-110 defeat last night. Michael Porter Jr led the team with 25 points and 14 rebounds on nine of 22 shooting, Danny Wolf and Day’Ron Sharpe each scored 14 points while Nolan Traore chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Nets shot 46 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Spurs from the start and were always playing from behind after getting outscored by 36-22 in the first quarter. The Nets did show some glimpses of their potential with 34 points in the second quarter, but every time they went on a run, the Spurs would respond with a bigger run.

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been on a tear as they’ve won nine of their last 11 games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back here after having their four-game win streak halted by the Nuggets in a 103-84 road defeat on Wednesday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 23 points, 11 rebounds and three assists, Derrick White added 20 points with six rebounds and three blocks while Neemias Queta chipped in with 10 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Celtics shot just 35 percent from the field and 12 of 43 from the 3-point line as they played great defense at the start of the game to take a narrow lead into halftime, but they Celtics went ice-cold and scored just 36 points in the entire second half to suffer one of their worst defeats of the season. Payton Pritchard had a quiet game of just three points on one of six shooting while Nikola Vucevic shot just one of seven from the field for his two points.

The Nets don’t currently have any players listed on their injury report, while the Celtics have ruled out Jayson Tatum once again. The Nets have been one of the coldest teams in the league, they are playing this game on zero days’ rest and their last five games have been double digit defeats. In contrast, the Celtics were on fire before they got humbled in their last game and I fully expect them to take out their frustrations on the lowly Nets who aren’t playing for much at this stage of the season. The line is certainly hefty, but I think the Celtics get off to a quick start and cruise to a comfortable win in this one.
