The Brooklyn Nets have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 21 of their last 26 games overall and they will be hoping to put a halt to a three-game losing streak after getting routed by the Thunder in a 105-86 road defeat on Friday. Michael Porter Jr led the team with 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Nolan Traore added 17 points while Day’Ron Sharpe chipped in with 12 points but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Nets shot a miserly 37 percent from the field and seven of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled against the defensive pressure of the Thunder and scored just 10 points in the second quarter to trail by 17 points going into halftime. The Nets responded with 34 points in the third quarter to climb back into the contest, only to get blown out at the end. Ochai Agbaji had a rough game of just four points on one of six shooting off the bench while Egor Demin had a night to forget as he scored just three points on one of 10 shooting from the field.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in poor form as they’ve lost six of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping for a better effort after getting scorched by the Heat in a 128-97 loss on Friday. Onyeka Okongwu led the team in scoring with 22 points, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and CJ McCollum each scored 20 points while Jalen Johnson tallied a triple-double of 16 points with 16 rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Hawks shot just 38 percent from the field and 16 of 38 from the 3-point line struggled to find their rhythm on offense and scored just 16 points in the first quarter to fall behind right away and things only got worse in the second half where the Hawks allowed 71 points to suffer one of their worst defeats of the season. Jock Landale had a quiet game of just three points on one of seven shooting while Zaccharie Risacher scored just four points on one of eight shooting.

The Nets are still slightly shorthanded with Ziaire Williams still out, while the Hawks have ruled out Jonathan Kuminga again. You really couldn’t trust either team with any confidence at the moment, but these two squads last met on Oct 29 and it was the Hawks who won by 117-112. I’m not expecting such a close contest in this one as the Nets have looked toothless on offense lately and I don’t think they have enough firepower to keep pace with the Hawks who are getting desperate for a win. The line is a bit hefty, but I still have the Hawks earning a much needed win and cover at home in this spot.
