The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Spectrum Center to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night.
Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview
The Philadelphia 76ers have continued their strong start to the season as they’ve won five of their first six games and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Knicks in a 98-93 home last night. Tyrese Maxey led the team with 27 points on 10 of 19 shooting, LeBron James added 20 points with nine rebounds and eight assists while Anfernee Simons provided the spark off the bench with 21 points on seven of 11 shooting. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their defense as they kept the Knicks in check from the start and held them to just 41 percent shooting from the field for the entire game.
Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have cooled off from their quick start to the season as they are now looking to avoid a third straight defeat after getting humbled by the Wizards in an ugly 95-79 road defeat last night. Brandon Miller led the team in scoring with 19 points, Naz Reid added 12 points with 11 rebounds while Moussa Diabate chipped in with 19 points and 12 rebounds, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Hornets shot a horrid 30 percent from the field and 12 of 56 from the 3-point line which was good enough to stay within striking distance in the first half, but their hopes were crushed in the third quarter where they scored just 13 points to fall behind by as many as 25 points.
Philadelphia v Charlotte Free Prediction
The 76ers are still missing Tacko Fall and Jabari Walker with Jaylen Brown listed as questionable, while the Hornets are missing Grant Williams, Coby White and Kon Knueppel again. The 76ers have yet to confirm if any players are being rested, but it’s fair to assume that either Embiid or James will be rested for this matchup given that they are playing the second game of a back to back set, but the 76ers still open as slight road favorites against this stumbling Hornets team who looked terrible last night. The Hornets can make this interesting if they get off to a flyer but their offense stalled last night and I don’t think it will improve against the 76ers’ underrated defense.
