Where to Watch: NBA League Pass
The Philadelphia 76ers (20-32) are set to face the Brooklyn Nets (19-34) on February 12, 2025, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The 76ers are looking to rebound from a 135-127 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, where Tyrese Maxey delivered an impressive 39-point performance. Maxey has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 28.1 points per game over his last ten outings. Joel Embiid, recently returning from a month-long absence, has also been contributing significantly, averaging 24.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets have been exceeding preseason expectations, recently securing a 97-89 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Their defense has been particularly strong, leading the league in several defensive categories over the past two weeks. Key contributors in their recent win included Nic Claxton with 16 points and Day'Ron Sharpe with 14 points and 9 rebounds.
Cameron Johnson Over 2.5 Three Pointers
Brooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson has been a significant contributor from beyond the arc during this season. Over 50 games, he is averaging 19.2 points per game, with a three-point shooting percentage of 41.7%. He makes an average of 3.2 three-pointers per game on 7.6 attempts. Johnson's consistent three-point shooting has been instrumental in the Nets' offensive strategy, providing valuable floor spacing and scoring.
Since returning back from injury we've seen Cameron Johnson score over 2 three-pointers in two of the three games. He has a favorable matchup in this one going against the Sixers who are giving up 13.8 3-pointers per game to opposing teams which is well above the league average. The Nets are also dealing with injuries to key offensive players like Cam Thomas which gives guys like Johnson more opportunities to score.
Nic Claxton Under 8.5 Rebounds
Brooklyn Nets center Nic Claxton has been a consistent presence on the boards during this season. He’s averaging 7.6 rebounds per game, with 1.9 offensive rebounds and 5.6 defensive rebounds per game. This marks a slight decrease from the previous season (2023-24), where he averaged 9.9 rebounds per game.
We've seen Claxton get under eight rebounds in 7 of his last eight games. I'm surprised to see that the oddsmakers haven't adjusted his rebounding line. He'll have his hands full guarding Joel Embiid all night who is one of the better rebounders in the league. I don't see this being the spot where Claxton bounces back and has a big night on the boards.
Tyrese Maxey Over 27.5 Points
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey has been a standout offensive performer. He’s averaging 28.1 points per game, ranking him fourth in the league. His shooting efficiency includes a field goal percentage of 45.0%, with 9.1 made field goals on 20.3 attempts per game. From beyond the arc, Maxey averages 3.0 three-pointers made on 8.1 attempts, resulting in a 37.3% three-point shooting percentage. At the free-throw line, he has been reliable, making 4.7 free throws on 5.4 attempts per game, achieving an 86.8% free-throw percentage
If you have been reading my articles for a while you know that I take the over on Maxey’s points any chance I get. He's cleared this line in nine of his last 10 games and I don't see him slowing down in this one. Tyrese Maxey is truly one of the best scores in the NBA and has cashed me in so many tickets so far this season.
