The Utah Jazz (12-37) are set to face the Phoenix Suns (25-25) on February 7, 2025, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. The Jazz have won two of their last three games, including a 131-128 victory over the Golden State Warriors, where Jordan Clarkson led with 31 points and Walker Kessler contributed a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds. Injuries have impacted the team, with leading scorer Lauri Markkanen (19.3 ppg) listed as day-to-day and second-leading scorer Collin Sexton (18.3 ppg) currently out.

The Suns, currently 10th in the Western Conference, are looking to rebound from a three-game losing streak, including a recent 140-109 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In that game, Bradley Beal scored 25 points off the bench, while Devin Booker added 19 points. Kevin Durant (26.9 ppg) missed the last game due to an ankle injury and is listed as day-to-day. The Suns have a 15-9 home record this season.

Devin Booker Over 5.5 Assist

Devin Booker has been a pivotal playmaker for the Phoenix Suns during the 2024-25 NBA season. He has played in 45 games, averaging 6.6 assists per game, ranking him 11th in the league. In a standout performance on January 31, 2025, Booker recorded a double-double with 31 points and 11 assists, leading the Suns to a 130-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

If the Phoenix Suns want to get back on track I believe that Devin Booker will need to be this team's main facilitator. He's failed to get over five assists in his last three games and in all those games the Suns looked terrible. When Devin Booker has a good night in the assist column we typically see the Suns play their best basketball. This is a good matchup for Devin Booker to bounce back in playing the Utah Jazz who give up 28.6 assists per game to opposing teams which is the 7th most in the league.

Grayson Allen Over 2.5 Three Pointers

Grayson Allen has been a significant contributor to the Phoenix Suns' perimeter offense during this season. He has played in 41 games, averaging 10.8 points per game. A substantial portion of his scoring comes from beyond the arc, where he has been particularly effective. Allen is averaging 2.5 made three-pointers per game on 5.7 attempts, resulting in an impressive three-point shooting percentage of 43.2%. In a notable performance on January 30, 2025, Allen scored 11 points, connecting on 3 of his 6 three-point attempts, while also contributing 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal in 29 minutes during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Grayson Allen has cleared this line of 2.5 3-pointers in five of his last six games. He's coming off back-to-back games where he made three 3-pointers. He has a favorable matchup going against the Jazz who give up 14.3 3-pointers per game to opposing teams which is the third most in the whole league. Expect Grayson Allen to have another big night from beyond the arc.

Lauri Markkanen Under 19.5 Points

Lauri Markkanen has been a key offensive player for the Utah Jazz during this season. He’s averaging 19.3 points per game. His shooting efficiency includes a field goal percentage of 42.4% and a three-point shooting percentage of 35.2%. Additionally, Markkanen has maintained a free-throw percentage of 86.1%.

My problem with Lauri has been his consistency this season in scoring the ball. We've seen him fail to score 20 or more points in his last six games. He's just not the same player that he was last season and I think a big reason for that has been the amount of injuries that he’s faced this season. Until oddsmakers adjust his lines I’ll be looking to fade Lauri on his points.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
