The Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Hornets meet Wednesday in NBA action at the Spectrum Center. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Trail Blazers vs Hornets prediction.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in terrible form as they've lost 14 of their last 16 games overall. The Trail Blazers will be hoping to put a halt to a 10-game losing streak after falling painfully short to the Magic in a 104-103 road defeat on Monday. Dalano Banton led the team with 26 points and five assists off the bench, Deandre Ayton added 20 points with 12 rebounds and three assists, Jabari Walker scored 18 points with nine rebounds and five assists while Scoot Henderson chipped in with 13 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they struggled for most of the contest and trailed by as many as 15 points, before they rallied in the fourth quarter to earn a shot to steal the game in the final possession, but Ayton missed the potential game-winner at the buzzer.
Charlotte Hornets
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in terrible form as they've lost eight of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after getting routed by the Celtics in a 118-104 loss on Monday. Miles Bridges led the team with 26 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, Grant Williams added 23 points on 10 of 16 shooting while Brandon Miller chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line, but they started to fall behind in the second quarter where they scored just 21 points, before they got blown out in the third quarter where they leaked 36 points to trail by as many as 19 points.

- Deandre Ayton ranks 12th amongst qualified players for FG% (57.9%) this season.
- Dalano Banton is one of only 20 players to have scored 30+ points off the bench in a game this season.
Matchup/League Facts
- The Hornets rank 30th in the league for point differential per game this season (-10.6).
- The Hornets rank 30th in the league for rebounds per game this season (40.6).
- The Trail Blazers rank 30th in the league for assists per game this season (23.1).
- The Trail Blazers rank 30th in the league for opponent steals per game this season (8.9).
Trail Blazers vs Hornets prediction
The Trail Blazers are still shorthanded with Tounami Camara, Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant all out, while the Hornets are still without Nick Richards, who is out with a foot injury. You really couldn't back either side with any confidence these days, as they've been two of the worst teams in the league. There is just a bit more to like about the Trail Blazers, who were more than competitive in their narrow loss to the red-hot Magic on Monday. The Hornets have opened as the slight favorites at home, but I think the Trail Blazers can pull off the minor upset in this one if Ayton or Banton can have another big game here.
