The San Antonio Spurs travel to the Amway Center to battle the Orlando Magic on Thursday night. Here’s a Spurs vs Magic Prediction.
San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have been in poor form as they've lost 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after getting beaten by the Heat in a 116-104 loss last night. Tre Jones led the team with 19 points and six assists, Devin Vassell added 19 points on eight of 18 shooting while Victor Wembenyama chipped in with 18 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line as they found themselves in a real wrestling contest until the fourth quarter where they leaked 38 points to lose by double digits in the end. The Spurs will take on the Nets after this one.
Orlando Magic
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in pretty good shape lately as they've won four of their last six games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak halted by the Heat in a 121-95 road defeat on Tuesday. Paolo Bachero led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Wendell Carter Jr added 15 points on six of nine shooting while Franz Wagner and Markelle Fultz each scored 13 points. As a team, the Magic shot 43 percent from the field and 10 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the desperate Heat from the start, scoring just 19 points in the first quarter to fall behind right away, before things got ugly in the second half where they got outscored by 65-46. Jalen Suggs had a night to forget as he scored just three points on one of seven shooting from the field. The Magic will play against the Bulls after this game.
Matchup/League Facts
- The Magic rank 1st in the league for opponent assists per game this season (24.0).
- The Magic rank 30th in the league for three-point field goals made per game this season (10.7).
- The Spurs rank 30th in the league for three-point percentage this season (34.1%).
- The Spurs rank 30th in the league for Q3 points per game this season (27.0).
Spurs vs Magic Prediction
The Spurs have continued their downward spiral with another loss to the Heat last night, but to be fair, they were right in the contest until late in the fourth quarter of that one. Meanwhile, the Magic were on a nice little run before they got dismantled by the Heat in a tough loss on Tuesday. The Spurs are playing this one on zero days' rest, so I'm more than comfortable taking the Magic to get the big win and cover at home.
