The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Boston Celtics collide at the TD Garden on Wednesday night. Here's a Timberwolves vs Celtics prediction.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past seven games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Magic in a 113-92 road win last night. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 28 points, six rebounds and five assists, Rudy Gobert added 21 points with 12 rebounds and three blocks while Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 53 percent from the field and 12 of 30 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Magic from the start and put the game to bed early after outscoring the Magic by 67-37 in the first half.
Minnesota Timberwolves Player Facts
- Anthony Edwards is one of only seven players in the league to have scored 25+ points in 10 straight games this season.
Boston Celtics
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after falling painfully short to the Pacers in a 133-131 road defeat on Monday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 40 points on 17 of 26 shooting, Jrue Holiday added 21 points with six assists while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 19 points and seven assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 52 percent from the field and 17 of 35 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they poured in 68 points in the first half to build an 11-point lead, but they allowed an uncharacteristic 44 points in the third quarter before they lost on free throws with just 0.1 seconds left on the clock.
Boston Celtics Player Facts
- Jayson Tatum ranks 1st amongst qualified Guards for rebounds per game (8.7) this season.
- Jaylen Brown ranks 11th in the Eastern Conference amongst qualified players for points per game (23.2) this season.
Matchup/League Facts
- The Celtics rank 1st in the league for point differential per game this season (+10.4).
- The Celtics rank 1st in the league for rebounds per game this season (47.6).
- The Timberwolves rank 1st in the league for opponent points per game this season (107.2).
- The Timberwolves rank 1st in the league for opponent field goal percentage this season (44.4%).
Timberwolves vs Celtics prediction
The Celtics could be shorthanded for this one with Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis all listed as questionable, but they still come into this one as the favorites as they’re the team in better form and they are still undefeated at home. The Timberwolves have cooled off a bit recently, but they looked dominant in their big win over the Magic last night so they will be quietly confident here. This is definitely a game where you want to check the lineups before tipoff, but as it stands, I’m willing to take the Celtics over the Timberwolves playing on zero days’ rest.
