The New York Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks duke it out at the State Farm Arena on Wednesday night.

New York Knicks

The New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they were riding a three-game win streak before they got stopped in their tracks by the Celtics in a 114-98 road loss on Monday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 26 points on 10 of 21 shooting, Julius Randle added 25 points with nine rebounds and five assists while Josh Hart chipped in with 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Knicks shot just 41 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line as they hung with the Celtics early on and actually took the lead into halftime, befoere they got blown out by 62-45 in the second half. Immanuel Quickley had a night to forget as he scored just seven points on one of 10 shooting off the bench.

  • Julius Randle ranks T11th amongst qualified players for rebounds per game (10.3) this season.

Atlanta Hawks

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in fine form as they've won six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to keep it going after outlasting the Pistons in a 126-120 road win last night. Dejounte Murray led the way with 36 points and 10 assists, Saddiq Bey added 19 points off the bench while De'Andre Hunter and Jalen Johnson scored 16 points apiece. As a team, the Hawks shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 38 points in the first quarter and they just never took their foot off the gas despite a late run from the Pistons. The Hawks were playing this one with the injured Trae Young, but the Hawks picked up the slack and had five players score at least 16 points.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The Hawks rank 2nd in the league for free throws made per game this season (22.3).
  • The Hawks rank 29th in the league for Q1 opponent points per game this season (32.5).
  • The Knicks rank 30th in the league for blocks per game this season (2.1).
  • The Knicks rank 30th in the league for field goal percentage this season (42.8%).

Peter's Pick

The Knicks are keeping an eye on RJ Barrett who is questionable with an illness, while the Hawks could again be missing Trae Young due to personal reasons. This is a game where you want to check the lineups before tipoff given how important Young is in this matchup, but as it stands, I'd have to go with the Knicks who were on a nice run before they met the red-hot Celtics.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
