The Miami Heat invade the Spectrum Center to battle the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have been building nicely as they are now aiming for a sixth straight victory after sneaking past the Spurs in a 118-113 road win on Sunday. Duncan Robinson led the team with 26 points on eight of 16 shooting, Bam Adebayo added 24 points with 11 rebounds and six assists while Jimmy Butler chipped in with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Heat shot 43 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and scored just 15 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 19 points early, but they chipped away at the deficit and poured in 36 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and cap off a solid comeback victory. The Heat got plenty of production from their bench as they had three reserves finish in double figures in scoring and the Heat committed just four turnovers compared to the Spurs' 17 turnovers.
Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets have lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping for a better performance after getting thrashed by the Knicks in a 129-107 road loss on Sunday. LaMelo Ball led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Nic Richards added 16 points on seven of nine shooting off the bench while Brandon Miller chipped in with 11 points on five of six shooting. As a team, the Hornets shot just 46 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Knicks from the start, falling behind by 10 points at halftime and things only got worse in the third quarter where they trailed by as many as 29 points. PJ Washington had a night to forget as he scored just four points on one of eight shooting, while Theo Maledon scored just six points on two of 12 shooting.
Peter's Pick
The Heat are still missing Tyler Herro, while the Hornets have listed Gordon Hayward as probable for this one despite a right hamstring strain. The Heat have quietly become one of the hottest teams in the league and they will be feeling pretty good after erasing a 19-point deficit in their win over the Spurs. The Hornets are still struggling for consistency and they suffered one of their worst losses of the season in their last outing. The Heat aren't playing anywhere near their best, but they've managed to reel off five wins on the trot and I like them to get the cover in this one at the short line.
Peter’s Pick Miami -3.5
