The Washington Wizards pay a visit to the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena on Wednesday night.
Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards have lost two of their first three games of the season and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Celtics in a 126-107 loss on Monday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, Eugene Omoruyi added 14 points off the bench while Jordan Poole, Deni Avdija and Tyus Jones scored 11 points apiece. As a team, the Wizards shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 36 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nightmare start and were never in the contest after getting outscored by 42-19 in the first quarter. Things got so ugly that the Wizards trailed by as many as 37 points in the third quarter, before they made a run in the fourth quarter to keep the final scores somewhat respectable.
Atlanta Hawks
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks will be gunning for a third straight victory after making light work of the Timberwolves in a 127-113 home win on Monday. Trae Young steered the offense with 24 points and eight assists, Dejounte Murray led the scoring with 41 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 17 of 24 shooting, while De'Andre Hunter chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 55 percent from the field and 14 of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Timberwolves early on and trailed by as many as 21 points, before they dominated the second half by 67-34 to win with ease in the end.
Peter's Pick
The Wizards could be shorthanded here as Daniel Gafford is currently listed as questionable, while the Hawks are keeping an eye on Trae Young who is questionable due to right Achilles inflammation. The Wizards have looked terrible so far this season and they were getting absolutely destroyed by the Celtics, trailing by as many as 37 points at one stage. Conversely, the Hawks are starting to heat up now and they were dominant in their win over the Timberwolves, so I like them to keep it going, regardless of whether Young plays or not.
