The New York Knicks invade the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to battle the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a rut as they've lost two of their first three games so far and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting beaten by the Pelicans in a 96-87 road defeat on Saturday. RJ Barrett led the team with 18 points, Jalen Brunson added 14 points with five assists while Julius Randle tallied 10 points with 12 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Knicks shot just 36 percent from the field and seven of 37 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and were always playing from behind after managing just 12 points in the first quarter. Julius Randle shot just four of 15, Quentin Grimes shot just two of nine, while Jalen Brunson made just four of 14 from the field.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Pacers in a 125-113 loss on Saturday. Evan Mobley led the way with 33 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks, Caris LeVert added 31 points with eight assists while Max Strus chipped in with 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 43 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a flyer with 37 points in the first quarter to take an early 15-point lead, but they didn't put the game to bed and then it became too hard to stop the Pacers once they were up and running. Bench scoring was an issue once again as they got outscored by the Pacers' bench by 61-11.
The Knicks are coming into this game without a single player on the injury report, while the Cavaliers are still missing Ty Jerome, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen and possibly Donovan Mitchell who is questionable with a hamstring injury. The Knicks got off to a decent start in their first two games before they scored just 87 points in a bad loss to the Pelicans, so I like their chances against the struggling Cavaliers team who are already dealing with so many injuries. The Knicks aren't often favorites on the road, but I think it's justified in this position, so I'll back the Knicks here.
