The Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics will be aiming to stay undefeated on the season after taking down the Heat in a 119-111 home win on Friday. Derrick White led the way with 28 points on nine of 15 shooting, Jaylen Brown added 27 points, Jayson Tatum added 22 points while Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday each scored 17 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the 3-point line as they found themselves trading baskets with the pesky Heat in a tight contest, until the midway through the fourth quarter where they were able to pull away. All five starters finished in double figures in scoring, but the Celtics got just eight points from their bench players, including zero points from Al Horford who finished zero of six from the field.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards will be aiming to build some momentum after beating the shorthanded Grizzlies in a 113-106 win on Saturday. Jordan Poole led the team with 27 points, Corey Kispert added 22 points on eight of 14 shooting while Kyle Kuzma tallied 21 points with 13 rebounds. As a team, the Wizards shot 43 percent from the field and 16 of 46 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 37 points in the second quarter to build a 25-point lead which proved to be just enough to hold off a late charge from the Grizzlies.
The Celtics have named the same squad as Friday, while the Wizards are a little shorthanded with Landry Shamet ruled out and Daniel Gafford listed as questionable. The Celtics have looked great so far this season, especially their new pieces which have fit right into their system nicely. The Wizards were good enough to take down the depleted Grizzlies in their last outing, but the Celtics are at full strength and they've looked great so far. With that being said, I'm sticking with the Celtics to stay undefeated with another win and cover here.
