Detroit Pistons Betting Preview
The Detroit Pistons are coming off a horrid season where they won just 17 games, but the positive thing to focus on is that the only way is up for this team. Management didn't do much in the offseason, but they did acquire veterans Joe Harris and Monte Morris to help this young squad. Cade Cunningham looks to have a major bounce-back season after he played just 12 games in his second year, but the news is that they will still be missing Bojan Bogdanovic and Monte Morris who are both out with injuries.
Miami Heat Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat stumbled their way through a 44-win regular season, before they flipped the switch and took it all the way to the NBA Finals where they lost to the Nuggets in a 4-1 series. The Heat didn't make too much noise in the offseason, but they certainly tried, only to miss out on Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday and Chris Paul. The Heat management traded away Max Strus and Gabe Vincent while re-signing veteran Kevin Love.
Trends
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Detroit's last 6 games. Detroit are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games when playing on the road against Miami. The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Miami's last 9 games. The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Miami's last 6 games at home.
Peter's Pick
The Heat were able to get all the way to the NBA Finals last season despite winning just 44 games in the regular season, but will they be able to flip the switch once again? The Heat weren't able to draw any of the star point guards available and they lost some firepower with Vincent and Strus now gone, but there is just so little to like about this Pistons team. Yes, they should be able to improve on their effort from last season, but they are still a long way from playoff contention. With that being said, the Heat have opened as big favorites at home, but I think the Pistons hang around just long enough to get the backdoor cover here.
Peter’s Pick Detroit +8.5
