The Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night in NBA action.
Atlanta Hawks Betting Preview
The Atlanta Hawks will be itching to get back into the NBA Playoffs are missing out for three seasons and there's enough evidence to suggest that they can make a run this season. John Collins has been traded away to Utah for players like Patty Mills and Wesley Matthews, while Dejounte Murray was signed to a four-year deal to form a solid backcourt with Trae Young.
Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets will be hoping for a better showing as long as they can stay healthy. LaMelo Ball showed glimpses of his potential last season, but he played just 36 games and could never build any momentum which was the story of the season. The Hornets ranked 27th in scoring last season and 22nd in points allowed. In terms of offseason moves, the Hornets traded away Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kai Jones.
Trends
Atlanta are 5-10 ATS in their last 15 games. Atlanta are 5-11 SU in their last 16 games on the road. The total has gone OVER in 4 of Atlanta's last 5 games. The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Charlotte's last 11 games. Charlotte are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games played in October. The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Charlotte's last 12 games against Atlanta.
Peter's Pick
The Hornets will have goals to improve on last season's record and I think they can do that as long as Ball is able to stay healthy, but he played just 36 games last season, so I'm not expecting him to burst out of the gates. The Hawks might regret trading away Collins who was so instrumental to their offense the past few seasons, but they added depth and 3-point shooting to help spread out of the floor for Murray and Young. The Hawks have opened as favorites on the road and that doesn't surprise me at all as I have the Hawks opening their season with a win and cover here.
