The Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks collide at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night in NBA opening night action.
Celtics Betting Preview
The Boston Celtics will be itching to make another deep playoff run after coming up short in a seven-game series in the Eastern Conference Finals last season. The Boston Celtics made plenty of moves in the offseason by trading away Marcus Smart and Grant Williams, while acquiring Kristaps Porizingis and Jrue Holiday. The Celtics were already one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference, but with Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis ready to improve the starting lineup, the Boston Celtics are looking like a team that can go all the way. Outside of the Bucks, the Celtics are the team to beat in the East.
Betting Preview Knicks
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks were relatively quiet in the offseason, but they will be looking to improve on last season where they ran past the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, before getting eliminated by the Miami Heat. The Knicks didn't make any big moves, but they held on to Jalen Brunson and signed him to a four-year deal, so once again they could look make the leap this season if they are able to land a star player. The Knicks will still rely heavily on players such as RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and Juluis Randle to make a potential deep run in the East this season. Of course, Knicks fans are hoping this is the year this group can finally get over the hump.
Peter's Pick
The rumors were swirling around about the Boston Celtics having to trade away either Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown, but instead they made big moves to acquire Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to create one of the best starting lineups in the league. The Knicks remained relatively quiet in terms of trades and I expect them to finish at around the 47-win mark once again this season, but there's more to be excited about if you're a Celtics fan and I think the men in green kick off their season with a road win in this spot.
