The United States and Canada face off in the third place game in the FIBA World Cup. Both of these teams are disappointed to not be in the championship game.
United States Betting Preview
There have to be some concerns about how motivated the United States are coming into this game. Anything less than winning the championship was a major disappointment for this team and now they don’t even get a chance in the championship game. The United states scored 111 points against Germany and shot 58.5 percent from the field but it wasn’t enough as they gave up 113 points to Germany. It seemed in every key spot they allowed Germany to hit a three point shot, and they need to sure up the defense here. Anthony Edwards is a star though and against Germany he finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. He almost helped the USA complete the late comeback.
Canada Betting Preview
On the other side of this matchup is Canada who were favorites heading into the last game against Serbia, but the defense gave up 95 points and led to the nine point defeat. Canada shot 48.2 percent from the field but they allowed Serbia to shoot 62 percent from the field and a team isn’t going to win many games when they allow their opponents to shoot that well from the field. RJ Barrett was the top player for Canada finishing with 23 points, three rebounds, and two assists. There were four different players that finished with at least 10 points. In this game the defense is going to need to be better, or it could be a long game.
Shane’s Free Pick
If this was any other team the United States was playing I would expect them to struggle, but this is Canada, and they don’t want to be embarrassed by the team to the North. The United States defense wasn’t great in the last game, but the offense was and they are going to have no issue running up the score again in this game. The offense will be the difference as the United States gets the job done.
