Spain and Canada face off on Sunday morning in a key FIBA World Cup basketball showdown.
Spain Betting Preview
Spain also won their first three games in the World Cup, but they are also coming off a loss in the last game. Three games ago against Brazil, Spain was able to secure a 96-78 victory. Two games ago against Iran, Spain also was able to secure the 85-65 win. In the last game against Latvia, they were also up heading into the 4th quarter, but they were outscored 27-11 and that led to the five point defeat. The offense wasn’t good enough in three of the four quarters and they are going to need the offense to be better here. Spain was outshot 44.1 percent to 39.6 percent from the field. Willy Hermangomez put up 14 points, four rebounds, and one assist. There were three different players that put up at least 11 points.
Canada Betting Preview
Canada is coming off a shocking loss and now they have all kinds of pressure on them. If they lose this game not only will they go home, they also could have to go into a last chance qualifier to make the 2024 Olympics. Canada had won their first three games in the FIBA World Cup, and they looked to be in good shape. In the last game against Brazil they also looked to be in good shape heading into the 4th quarter, but they were outscored 24-13 in the 4th quarter and they ended up losing 69-65. Canada shot only 33.3 percent of the field and 26.7 percent from behind the three point line. Shai Gilgeous Alexander has had a huge tournament and he had another big game against Brazil putting up 23 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Luguentz Dort also put up 17 points and five rebounds.
Shane’s Free Pick
Canada is laying too many points here, and I expect Spain is going to keep this game close. I also believe Spain could win this game outright. After the way Canada lost the last game, they can’t have much confidence and Spain is going to score plenty here. In the 4th quarter they are going to really put the pressure on the Canadian defense, and they will keep this game within a couple of points. Back Spain against the spread.
Shane’s Pick Spain +6
