Brazil and Spain face off on Monday morning in a FIBA World Cup basketball showdown at Indonesia Arena in Jakarta.
Brazil Betting Preview
Brazil opened up their FIBA World Cup against Iran and they did exactly what was expected, dominated them. At the end of the first quarter Brazil was up 33-12 and they never looked back on the way to the blowout victory. Brazil shot 54.7 percent in the game while Iran only shot 36.9 percent from the field. Brazil also shot over 41 percent from the three point line, and they are going to need to find success from deep here again. Brazil was led by forward Bruno Caboclo who finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. Overall it was mostly a balanced attack with five players finishing with at least 10 points. In this game it’s going to need to be the defense that steps up. Raulzinho Neto did get hurt during the first game and it looks like his time at the World Cup is over.
Spain Betting Preview
On the other side of this matchup is Spain who opened up the World Cup with a 94-64 victory over the Ivory Coast. Spain shot 53 percent from the field while they held the Ivory Coast to only 39.7 percent from the field. At the end of the first quarter Spain was up 24-17 and they were able to win each individual quarter. Spain was led by Willy Hernangomez and he had 22 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Usman Garuba also had 12 points and seven rebounds in only 14 minutes on the court. Spain had 12 different players that finished with at least two points, and Spain is going to need it to be a balanced attack here. They need other players outside of Hermangomez to step up.
Shane’s Free Pick
Spain looked good in the last game, and I am really concerned about how the injury of Neto is going to hurt the Brazil team. Neto is one of the top players for Brazil but in the first game they did have others step up. Spain beat up against a terrible Ivory Coast team, but Brazil is going to find more offensive success here. I think Brazil can win this game outright, but we will take the points to be safe. Back Brazil against the spread.
Shane’s Pick Brazil +9
