The Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics duke it out in a dramatic Game 7 at the TD Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The Philadelphia 76ers will be eager to bounce back and advance to the Conference Finals after falling short against the Celtics in a 95-86 loss in Game 6 on Thursday. Joel Embiid led the team with 26 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, Tyrese Maxey added 26 points on nine of 20 shooting while James Harden tallied 13 points with seven rebounds and nine assists, but no one else scored more than eight points. As a team, the 76ers shot just 36 percent from the field and eight of 34 from the 3-point line as they poured in 30 points to recover from a slow start, only to go ice-cold and score just 13 points in the fourth quarter to get blown out in the end. Tobias Harris had a night to forget as he scored just two points on one of seven shooting while De’Anthony Melton finished scoreless on zero of five shooting.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics are now aiming to finish off the 76ers after squaring up the series with a crucial win in Game 6. Marcus Smart led the way with 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, Jayson Tatum added 19 points with nine rebounds and six assists, Jaylen Brown scored 17 points while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 42 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line as they came out and looked like the more desperate team right from the start, taking the early lead before they dominated the fourth quarter to earn the crucial victory. Al Horford had another quiet game of just two points on one of five shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Celtics are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Head to head, the 76ers are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Celtics were good enough to keep a lid on the 76ers in their own building in Game 6 and now it’s up to the 76ers to respond at the TD Garden which will be packed for sure. With what is at stake, we just know that Embiid is going to have a big game, but it won’t count for much if he doesn’t get help, particularly from Harden who has been key to their wins in this series. The Celtics hold all the momentum and they are deserved favorites, but this line just seems a bit too hefty. I don’t think the 76ers get the win, but I think we go down to the wire in this one, so I’m taking any points I can get.
