The Denver Nuggets will be looking to finish off the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 at the Ball Arena on Tuesday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves took their time getting their first win of the series, but they must be feeling so much better after staving off elimination with a 114-108 overtime win in Game 4 on Sunday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 34 points, six rebounds and five assists, Mike Conley added 19 points with eight assists, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 17 points and 11 rebounds while Rudy Gobert tallied 14 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line as they closed the third quarter on a 25-10 run to erase a nine-point lead, before they poured in 18 points in the overtime period to pull off the impressive victory.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets raced out to a 3-0 series lead, but they will have to wait another game to advance after coming up short on Sunday. Nikola Jokic led the way with 43 points, 11 rebounds and six assists on 15 of 26 shooting, Jamal Murray added 19 points with seven rebounds and five assists while Michael Porter Jr. chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they closed the fourth quarter on an 18-6 run to force overtime, only to come up short in overtime.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in their last five Conference Quarterfinals games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games playing on one day’s rest. The Nuggets 20-8 ATS in their last 28 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six Conference Quarterfinals games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2-2 in the last 11 meetings overall, the Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 24-9 ATS in the last 33 meetings in Denver.
The Timberwolves could be shorthanded for this one as Kyle Anderson is listed as day to day with that eye contusion, while the Nuggets are playing the same lineup for this one. The Timberwolves would’ve breathed a sigh of relief after outlasting the Nuggets in overtime in Game 4, but the Nuggets are so much tougher to beat at home, so it’s no surprise that the line is almost double digits. I do like the Nuggets to get the job done and win here to advance, but the Timberwolves are playing for their season here and I think they can hang around long enough to get the cover.
