The Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets collide at the Barclays Center in Game 3 on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to take a commanding 3-0 series lead after taking down the Nets in a 96-84 win in Game 2 on Monday. Tyrese Maxey led the way with 33 points on 13 of 23 shooting, Joel Embiid tallied 20 points with 19 rebounds and seven assists while Tobias Harris added 20 points with 12 rebounds. As a team, the 76ers shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense early and scored just 19 points in the second quarter to fall behind going into halftime, before they dominated the second half by 52-35 to make it look easy in the end. Only three players finished in double figures in scoring and the bench combined for just 15 points.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets will be hoping to bounce back after dropping a winnable game on Monday. Cameron Johnson led the team with 28 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Mikal Bridges added 21 points with seven assists while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 12 points and six assists, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. Dorian Finney-Smith scored just eight points on three of nine shooting while Nic Claxton finished scoreless in 21 minutes of action. As a team, the Nets shot just 37 percent from the field and 13 of 42 from the 3-point line as they kept the 76ers in check in the first half, before going ice-cold and scoring just 35 points in the second half to allow to go behind 2-0 in the series.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Nets are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the 76ers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The 76ers must be beaming with confidence after taking down the Nets on Monday as they did it with their defense on a night when their shots just weren’t dropping. In particular, Maxey was fantastic for the 76ers as he picked up the scoring slack in place of James Harden who scored just eight points on three of 13 shooting. The Nets need to get off to a flyer just to keep this one interesting, but I don’t think they have enough to avoid the dreaded sweep in this series. The 76ers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and I think they can get the win to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.
