The Houston Rockets pay a visit to the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena on Sunday.
The Houston Rockets have sprung to life with three wins in their past four outings and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Hornets in a 112-109 road win on Friday. Kevin Porter Jr and Jalen Green led the team wit 26 points each, while Kenyon Martin Jr and Alperen Sengun each scored 14 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 47 percent from the field and seven of 21 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest in the second quarter and built themselves a 14-point lead which proved to be just enough to hold off a late rally from the Hornets who cut it to three points before running out of time.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games, but they will be feeling better after outlasting the Heat in a 114-108 win on Friday. Daniel Gafford led the team with 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Corey Kispert added 19 points while Johnny Davis chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and seven of 33 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 36 points in the third quarter to build a 23-point lead, before surviving a late scare as the Heat rallied with 37 points in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 road games, 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Wizards are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team below .400 and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings in Washington and the Rockets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington.
The Rockets are still missing Jae’Sean Tate, while the Wizards have ruled out Kristaps Porzingis, Bradley Beal, Kyle Kuzma and Deni Avdija again. The Rockets have come to life with three wins in their past four outings when they should be in full tank-mode, but I think they cap off the regular season on a high note as they take advantage of this depleted Wizards lineup.
