The Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat duke it out at the Miami-Dade Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Orlando Magic have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after getting routed by the Nets in a 101-84 road loss on Friday. Cole Anthony led the team with 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Franz Wagner and Goga Bitadze each scored 12 points while Kevon Harris chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Magic shot just 35 percent from the field and seven of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense from the start and were always fighting an uphill battle after scoring just 16 points in the second quarter. Jalen Suggs had a rough night as he scored just seven points on two of nine shooting while Bol Bol finished with just three points on one of nine shooting.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat were building some nice momentum with three wins on the trot before they got stopped by the Wizards in a 114-108 upset road loss on Friday. Victor Oladipo led the team with 30 points off the bench, Cody Zeller added 17 points while Max Strus chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Heat shot just 43 percent from the field and 15 of 47 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Wizards until the third quarter where they got outscored by 36-20 to trail by as many as 23 points before they made a run in the fourth quarter to make it interesting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 road games, 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Heat are 9-24-1 ATS in their last 34 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Miami, the Magic are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Miami and the Magic are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Magic could be severely shorthanded here as Franz Wagner, Gary Harris, Markelle Fultz and Paolo Banchero are all questionable, while the Heat are keeping eyes on Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry who are all questionable again. This is a game where you want to check the lineups before tipoff, but as it stands, I’m leaning more towards the Heat who have more to gain from this game.
