The Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics do battle once again at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in pretty good form as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after coming up just short to the Celtics in a 97-93 road loss on Wednesday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 28 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Scottie Barnes tallied 18 points with eight rebounds and five assists while Precious Achiuwa chipped I with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Raptors shot just 41 percent from the field and six of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and managed just 16 points in the second quarter to fall behind by 13 points which was just too much to overcome in this one as the Celtics’ defense held firm. Fred VanVleet had a night to forget as he finished with just seven points on two of 14 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be eager to maintain that momentum after sneaking past the Raptors in a 97-93 home win on Wednesday. Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 29 points on 10 of 19 shooting off the bench, Jaylen Brown added 25 points with 11 rebounds and five assists while Derrick White chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 42 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line as they restricted the Raptors to just 16 points in the second quarter to take control with a 13-point lead, before they held off a late rally from the Raptors who made it interesting at the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall and the Raptors are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Raptors don’t have anyone listed on the injury report, while the Celtics are keeping eyes on Marcus Smart, Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White who are all questionable. It’s always tough to beat the same team twice in a row in their own building, but the Raptors are healthy and playing good basketball, so I like them to pull off the upset again.
