The Indiana Pacers play host to the Detroit Pistons at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been ice-cold lately as they’ve lost 22 of their last 23 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to an 11-game losing streak after getting routed by the Nets in a 123-108 loss on Wednesday. RJ Hampton led the team with 27 points on nine of 15 shooting off the bench, Jaden Ivey added 23 points with 10 assists while Jalen Duren chipped in with 18 points on nine of 11 shooting. As a team, the Pistons shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 28 from the 3-point line, but they let themselves down on the defensive end and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Nets to pour in 47 points in the first quarter. The Pistons made a bit of a run in the third quarter to cut into a 19-point deficit, only to score just 18 points in the fourth quarter to get blown out.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a real funk as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Knicks in a 138-129 loss on Wednesday. Jalen Smith led the team with 19 points on eight of 11 shooting, TJ McConnell added 18 points with 12 assists off the bench while Bennedict Mathurin chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 51 percent from the field and 15 of 30 from the 3-point line as they trailed going into halftime despite pouring in 38 points in the second quarter, only to allow the Knicks to run away with it as they just had no answer for the Knicks’ Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley and Quentin Grimes who all scored more than 30 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight road games, 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Pacers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings in Indiana and the Pistons are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Pistons are severely shorthanded once again as Alec Burks, Bojan Bogdanovic and Isaiah Stewart are all out, while the Pacers have ruled out Tyrese Haliburton and they have Myles Turner and TJ McConnell both listed as questionable. The Pistons have been the coldest team in the league for a while now, but the Pacers haven’t been much better as they’ve lost six of their last seven overall. You really couldn’t back either of these two teams with any confidence, but the Pistons are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and I think we’re getting just enough points here to get the cover in a close one.
