The Orlando Magic and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out at the Barclays Center on Friday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games overall, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the Cavaliers in a 118-94 loss last night. Jalen Suggs led the team with 22 points, Bol Bol added 18 points with eight rebounds and three assists while Jay Scrubb chipped in with 11 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Magic shot just 39 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 42 points in the first quarter, only to go completely cold and score just 31 points in the second and third quarters combined.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the lowly Pistons in a 123-108 road win on Wednesday. Mikal Bridges led the team with 26 points and six assists, Nic Claxton added 19 points while Joe Harris chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot 52 percent from the field and 17 of 43 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 47 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early 19-point lead, before they held the Pistons to just 18 points in the fourth quarter to cap off the dominant victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 road games, 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 games against a team with a winning record and 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Nets are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win.
Head to head, the Magic are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Magic are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Brooklyn.
The Magic are missing a bunch of players including Franz Wagner, Gary Harris, Markelle Fultz and Paolo Banchero, while the Nets are coming into this one with almost a complete lineup except for Ben Simmons. The Magic have obviously decided that this game isn’t that important as they’ve rested everyone, so I’m looking at the Nets to take full advantage and win this one comfortably at home.
