The Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks duke it out at the State Farm Arena on Friday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past five games, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting scorched by the Heat in a 129-101 home loss last night. Joel Embiid led the team with 21 points on nine of 13 shooting, James Harden added 14 points while Tobias Harris chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the field and 10 of 36 from the 3-point line as they didn’t come out ready to compete and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing 41 points in the first quarter. Embiid wasn’t able to dominate like he usually does and they just didn’t get enough support from their role players.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last five games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after routing the Wizards in a 134-116 home win on Wednesday. Trae Young steered the offense with 25 points and 16 assists, John Collins added 23 points on six of eight shooting while Dejounte Murray chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 51 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running to jump out to the early lead and they just never took their foot off the gas as they outscored and outpaced the Wizards in every quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games playing on zero days rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record. The Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the under is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings overall and the 76ers are 4-11 ATS in the last 15 meetings in Atlanta.
The 76ers are going to be shorthanded here as Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are both out, while the Hawks are keeping an eye on De’Andre Hunter who is questionable for this one. The 76ers were playing well before they got burned by the Heat in their last outing and I think they’re going to struggle again with Embiid not in the lineup. The Hawks are starting to heat up again and I think they can take advantage of a depleted 76ers in this spot.
