The Washington Wizards pay a visit to the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting beaten by the Bucks in a 140-128 loss last night. Kendrick Nunn led the way with 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists off the bench, Jay Huff added 17 points while Johnny Davis chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and couldn’t slow down the Bucks until they fell behind by 24 points late in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Bulls in a 123-105 road win last night. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the team with 26 points and five assists, Saddiq Bey added 18 points while Dejounte Murray chipped in with 17 points and nine assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 55 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Bulls from the start and were always in control after taking a 13-point lead into halftime.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games, 43-21-2 ATS in their last 66 games playing on zero days rest and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Hawks are 19-41 ATS in their last 60 games following a win, 1-5 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the over is 18-7-1 in the last 26 meetings in Atlanta.
The Wizards are still without Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma, while the Hawks could again be missing Trae Young who sat out last night with an illness. It’s hard to pick games with injuries on both sides, but the Hawks are the obvious favorites with more to play for, so I’ll back them to get the much-needed win at home in this spot.
