The Detroit Pistons play host to the Miami Heat at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a rut as they were on a three-game skid before they snapped out of it with a 129-122 win over the Mavericks on Saturday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 35 points and 12 assists on 12 of 16 shooting, Cody Zeller added 20 points on nine of 13 shooting while Max Strus and Kevin Love each scored 18 points. As a team, the Heat shot 52 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 44 points in the first quarter to take an early 18-point lead, before they held off a late rally from the Mavericks.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a world of hurt as they’ve lost 20 of their last 21 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a 10th straight defeat after getting routed by the Magic in a 128-102 road loss on Sunday. Killian Hayes led the team with 20 points and seven assists, Euguene Omoruyi added 19 points off the bench while Jaden Ivey chipped in with 14 points and six assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 41 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Magic from the start and just never had a chance after scoring just 15 points in the second quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400 and 8-18 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Pistons are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Heat are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Heat have listed Kyle Lowry as questionable for this one, while the Pistons are still missing a bunch of players including Bojan Bogdanovic, Alec Burks and Isaiah Stewart. You couldn’t back either team with much confidence, but out of these two teams, it’s definitely the Heat who have a little more to be optimistic about. The Heat were able to get the much-needed win over the Mavericks in their last outing and I think they can build on that with another win against this ice-cold Pistons team who are in full tank-mode at the moment.
