The Sacramento Kings play host to the San Antonio Spurs at the Golden 1 Center on Sunday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games overall and they will be eager to arrest a six-game slide after getting routed by the Warriors in a 130-115 road loss on Friday. Keldon Johnson led the team with 22 points, Malaki Branham added 19 points while Keita Bates-Diop chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Spurs shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 38 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Warriors in a close contest, until the fourth quarter where they allowed the Warriors to pour in 43 points to lose by double-digits in the end.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in fine form as they’ve won four of their last five games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after beating the Trail Blazers in a 138-114 road win on Friday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 20 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists, Domantas Sabonis added 20 points with 12 rebounds and eight assists while Keegan Murray and Malik Monk scored 20 points apiece. As a team, the Kings shot a sizzling 61 percent from the field and 19 of 39 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start as they poured in 71 points in the first half and they just never took their foot off the gas despite resting their starters early.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 9-26 ATS in their last 35 road games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600 and 8-23 ATS in their last 31 games overall. The Kings are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Sacramento, the Spurs are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Spurs are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Sacramento.
The Spurs are still missing Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan, while the Kings are only missing Matthew Dellavedova for this one. Here we have a classic case of two teams headed in opposite directions which explains why the line is set at double-digits for this one. With that being said, the Spurs are ice-cold at the moment and they are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall, so I will stick with the Kings who have more to play for at this stage of the season.
