The Toronto Raptors and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out at the Spectrum Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Toronto Raptors have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their three-game win streak snapped by the 76ers in a 117-110 road loss on Friday. Scottie Barnes led the team with 29 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals, Fred VanVleet added 19 points with six assists, OG Anunoby added 17 points while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 14 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Raptors shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 26 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and they were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 46-27 in the second quarter. Pascal Siakam scored just 14 points on five of 15 shooting while the bench players combined for just 17 points.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in decent form as they had reeled off three wins on the trot, before they ran into the Bulls in a 121-91 loss on Friday. James Bouknight led the team with just 22 points, six rebounds and four assists off the bench, Svi Mykhailiuk added 16 points with five assists while no other player scored more than 10 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 45 percent from the field and 14 of 37 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Bulls right from the start and fell behind by 16 points in the first half, before they managed just 14 points in the fourth quarter to get completely blown out in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Hornets are 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games following a loss and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 13-5-1 in the last 19 meetings overall, the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Charlotte and the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Raptors are shorthanded again as Gary Trent Jr and Will Barton are both questionable, while the Hornets are still missing LaMelo Ball. The Hornets were playing some pretty good basketball before they got stopped in their tracks by the Bulls in a big loss on Friday, but the Raptors are the team in better form and they are almost at full health with all their key players available, so I’ll lean towards the Raptors in this spot.
