The Detroit Pistons and the Orlando Magic collide at the Amway Center on Sunday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been ice-cold as they’ve lost 19 of their last 20 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest an eight-game losing streak after falling short to the Rockets in a 121-115 road loss on Friday. Marvin Bagley led the team with 21 points on eight of 13 shooting, Jaden Ivey added 18 points with nine assists while Cory Joseph chipped in with 17 points and five assists off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Rockets in a close contest, until midway through the fourth quarter where the Rockets used a pivotal 15-8 run to pull away in a close finish.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in great form as they’ve won four of their last five games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after sneaking past the Wizards in a 116-109 road win on Friday. Paolo Banchero led the team with 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, Markelle Fultz added 25 points with six rebounds and four assists on 11 of 15 shooting while Franz Wagner chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Magic shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 24 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and trailed in this one by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, before they dominated the fourth quarter by 31-13 to pull off the comeback victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 8-0 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the Pistons are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Pistons are still missing Isaiah Stewart, Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks, while the Magic are still missing Kevon Harris and Jonathan Isaac. The offseason can’t come soon enough for the Pistons who have won just one of their last 20 games, so I’m going to stick with the in-form Magic to continue their nice run with another win and cover at home.
