The Toronto Raptors and the Philadelphia 76ers duke it out at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in great form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after routing the Heat in a 106-92 home win on Tuesday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 26 points, nine rebounds and five assists while OG Anunoby and Scottie Barnes each scored 22 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their defense as they took the narrow lead into halftime, before they restricted the Heat to just 20 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 19 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in a bit of a rut with four losses in their last six games, but they will be eager to build some momentum after beating the Mavericks in a 116-108 home win on Wednesday. Joel Embiid led the way with 25 points, Tyrese Maxey added 22 points while De’Anthony Melton chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the 76ers shot 46 percent from the field and 17 of 36 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and fell into an early 12-point deficit and they couldn’t get in front until the fourth quarter where they held the Mavericks to just 17 points to run past them and earn the much-needed victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The 76ers are 23-10 ATS in their last 33 home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Philadelphia.
The Raptors could be shorthanded again as Will Barton and Gary Trent Jr are both questionable, while the 76ers don’t have a single player listed on the injury report. The 76ers have gone off the boil lately, but they still open as favorites against this Raptors team who are quietly playing some of their best basketball of the season. The Raptors are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and they are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games overall, so I will lean towards the Raptors to keep this one close and get the cover in the end.
