The New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers duke it out at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after beating he Heat in a 101-92 win on Wednesday. Quentin Grimes led the way with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Immanuel Quickley added 24 points off the bench while Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett each scored 12 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their defense as they struggled to gain any separation from the pesky Heat, until the fourth quarter where they restricted them to just 16 points to pull away and earn the gritty win.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their four-game win streak snapped by the Hawks in a 120-118 road loss on Tuesday. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 44 points and five assists, Darius Garland added 27 points with five assists while Evan Mobley chipped in with 20 points, 15 rebounds and six assists on 10 of 13 shooting. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 50 percent from the field and nine of 25 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to claw their way back from a 15-point deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, only to see the Hawks steal the game on free throws in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 35-17 ATS in their last 52 road games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 games overall. The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on two days rest and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
The Knicks have ruled out Julius Randle again and they have Derrick Rose listed as questionable, while the Cavaliers are still missing Jarrett Allen and they have Dean Wade and Raul Neto listed as questionable. The Knicks were good enough to get past the Heat on Wednesday, but they’re going to have to adapt with Randle being out of the lineup which will be tough to do against this Cavaliers team who were in great form before they ran into the Hawks on Tuesday. The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on two days rest and I think they can take advantage of this shorthanded Knicks team in this one.
